Inner Child

Linkie link.

Thinking more about this inner child issue, I did some reading. The link above is some of my reading. One statement that stood out for me was the following:

"Anytime we have a strong emotional reaction to something or someone - when a button is pushed and there is a lot of energy attached, a lot of intensity - that means there is old stuff involved.

It is the inner child who feels panic or terror or rage or hopelessness, not the adult."

The first part of this excerpt I am familiar with, but I never really connected my intense anger, fear, and pain to being felt by my inner child. However, this makes a lot of sense to me. I can recall those times in my life where I have felt those feelings. It seems as though I had blocked much of that out until now. The fear, however, has always lingered about; fear of abandonment, fear of people getting too close and not liking what they saw, fear of specific people, etc.

Another aspect brought up in the article was the presence of multiple children from different ages. Perhaps this explains my varied emotional maturity? I am not sure. I suppose that just gives me more to reflect on.

  1. Holds true IssueKnitter. I certainly can contest to the fact that:
